Tour Log Day 15 - 17/01/2009

Today we spent some time in Wellington with our good mate Matt Langley, and we stayed at one of the backpackers we've ever stayed at. Tonight we played a gig at Happy with Matt opening up. Matt did a great set, and we had a good time laying down some Blues for the folks, including some heavy Wellington Blues musos. No road slogans today, as we spent our time in the city.

We headed back to the West side for a show at Biddy Mulligan's in Hamilton. We were invited by Nate Taiapa, who opened the show with Blues Club regulars John and Brian. Nate hosts the Blues Room blues radio show, and he blows the hell out the harmonica. We're hoping to lure him down to Dunedin for some shows in the future. We were delighted with unexpected visits from Dunedin mates Tia and David. Just one slogan on the road today:

Time is Tight

Tour Log Day 8Today we rolled up from Hamilton to Auckland, with a stop to say hi to Vernon and our friend Steve in Pukekohe. Steve's a killer guitar player, and he kindly let us try out some of his fine guitars. Then we headed up to Auckland to stay with Katie MacDonald, a friend of the band who is letting us stay during a few days off. As you'll see from our breaking news, we landed a last-minute gig in Franklin courtesy of Jenny (Steve's wife). Only one slogan today:

Go for Broke

Tour Log Day 7Today we drove to Raglan for a show at the Harbour View Hotel. The gig did't work out, so we went down the street to Costa's Pizza for an impromptu pass the hat show. We had a great time, and our kind host Veronica kept us supplied with pizza and beverages. If you are heading to Raglan, be sure to stop at Costa's. After the show we stayed with Paul's sister and nieces south of Hamilton - thanks Di. The road trip brought some more slogans:

Hit the Road Jack
The Way
Bliss
Griff's
Reason For
"Just Cruiz'in"
