BackStage - 14th Feb 2008

King Leo and The Growling Dogs are fronting for the big Eddie Rice fundraiser. There are about 14 acts playing on the night so it should be a massive event with proceeds going to a great cause. Tickets $10 on the door.

Backstage - 4th Mar 2008

King Leo and the Growling Dogs have a few new songs to road test, so we shall be dragging them out at Backstage in Bath Street on a Tuesday night. There will be a few other acts playing as well, we will kepp you posted as details come to hand.

Dunedin Farmers Market - 8th Mar 2008

You can see the whole band play down at the Dunedin Farmers Market. It is their 5 year birthday so they thought brining the full band down was a good idea to give the day a little pep. We will be ready to play from 9.30am approx till 12.

Bluesfest NZ - 22nd Mar 2008

Here\'s some info about a great upcoming Blues Festival in NZ. King Leo and the Dogs aren\'t performing at the fest, but we thought this would be of interest to Blues fans out there. As sister events to the East Coast International Blues And Roots Music Festival (Byron Bay Bluesfest) there are now three Australian festivals that are more than proud to host artists and ethos associated with one of Australia?s premier international annual events. In 2008 New Zealand has achieved a rare honour in becoming a part of this festival circuit with Bluesfest NZ (the Coromandel Peninsula Blues And Roots Music Festival 2008). Bluesfest NZ is set to be positioned in Whitianga on the glorious East Coast of the Coromandel Peninsula and bring to New Zealand shores a flavour of the amazing Byron Bay Blues Festival. The inaugural festival is scheduled as a one day event and will play host to some impressive names in blues, reggae, funk, roots pop and swamp rock. The festival will take place on Saturday 22nd, March, 2008.

King Leo acoustic @ the Folk Club - 6th Apr 2008

King Leo and the Growling Dogs will be playing a set down at the local folk club. This will be fully acoustic as in no mikes at all. Any one is welcome to come along, there will be other performers on the night. The club starts at 7pm at St Lees on Dundas Street and a small cover charge goes to the club.

Black & White Ball at Waitati Hall - 10th May 2008

With Delgirl and Hana Fahy Doors at 8:00, Music begins at 8:30 with Hana Fahy. Delgirl (www.delgirl.co.nz) goes next, and then King Leo and the Dogs get going. Tickets are $20 (or $30 with bus trip included) from the Regent Theatre Ticketek, Port Chalmers Hammer Hardware, or the Blueskin Nursery Cafe. Refreshment sales benefit Purakanui School. Alcohol is BYO.

Blues Night in Invercargill - 14th Jun 2008

King Leo and the Growling Dogs will be heading to the deep South for a night of Blues at the Appleby Tavern Blues Bar in Invercargill. The Appleby is on the corner of 9th St. and Balmoral Drive. Admission is $10. Doors open at 8pm, and the music begins with a set from Invers Bluesman Marty Astone. Then the Dogs will take the stage and pour on the Blues. Come have a Blues party with us, Southern-style!

Penguin Club in Oamaru - 2nd Aug 2008

King Leo and the Growling Dogs will be heading up to Oamaru to play the Penguin Club on the Second of August. Heaps of Blues at a great venue!

The Tunnel Bar with Tono and the Finance Company - 23rd Aug 2008

King Leo and the Growling Dogs will be playing at the Tunnel Bar in the Port Chalmers Hotel, Saturday, 23 August We will be teaming up with Tono and the Finance Company, a great Dunedin band, so come on out and enjoy the music at the Tunnel! Admission is $10.

The 3rd Long Beach Blues Ball - 30th Aug 2008

On Saturday, August 30th King Leo and the Growling Dogs will host the third Long Beach Blues Ball at the Long Beach Hall. Joining us will be Dunedin band Alpha State (http://www.myspace.com/alphastatenz) in duo form. This time the theme is Paint the Town Red, so come on out in red from head to toe! Doors open at 8:30 and music begins at 9. Alcohol is BYO, and once again refreshment sales will benefit Purakanui School. Tickets are available from the Regent Theatre Box Office and Port Chalmers Hammer Hardware: $20, or $30 to include admission and bus transport. The first bus pickup will be 7:30pm at Tonic on Princes St.. Bus riders should be sure to get their ticket by midday Friday August 29th. Yvette Palmer is handling the bus trip, so if you are riding the bus, we recommend that you email Yvette at singingwood@xtra.co.nz to get an updated schedule and route.

Join us for a night of Blues on Saturday, 4 October at the Penguin Club on Harbour St. in Oamaru. Opening will be Oamaru favourites Two Dollar Robot. The music begins at 9pm. $15, or $12 for Club members.

Otago Arts Festival - Ballantine's Festival Club - 11th Oct 2008

We will be playing the final night of the Otago Arts Festival's Ballantine's Festival Club on level 3 of the Dunedin Town Hall. The music begins at 10:30, and entry (door sales only) is $10. This is a great venue, so come on out and help us make it a party!

Lions in the park is a fundraiser for charity. This year the money goes to the Otago Hospice, a fantastic cause and a great support line for people who really need it.

Blues Spectacular! - 27th Jun 2009

Blues Spectacular!On June 27, King Leo and the Growling Dogs will host the Blues Spectacular at the Pioneer Hall, 362 Moray Place (across from Countdown). Come out and have a blast with us in the heart of the city! The music begins at 9pm with the deep, soulful rhythms of the Julian Temple Band.

Then see what Blues shouting is all about as Tahu Mackenzie steps up to the microphone with King Leo and the Dogs and raises the roof. Finally we'll bring on the Memphis-style Blues with a deadly brass section: Trevor Coleman on trumpet and Paul Young on tenor sax.

Anders "Junior" Jensen is heading back to Norway in July, so this will be your last chance to see him with the Dogs for quite a while. Don't miss this one!
